Simple editing is just basic editing. There are no fancy effects and the takes of each shot will either be long (for the voice over and focusing on the book) or at least longer than a second. This is so I do not distract the viewer from the plot, character and titles. I wish to not make it over detailed as the genre (drama comedy/dark comedy/real life) will not fit it but I will still put a lot of effort into the editing so it works with the opening sequence. I will most likely use iMovie to help me edit and use the feature called 'skimming' to help identify the best parts of my video for later viewing and editing.
The opening sequence of 'American Beauty' uses simple editing
and long shots to make the audience focus more on the voice over and the characters in the scene.
